Raising Day — 250th Anniversary of the Trenton Barracks Rafters Raising in 1758
September 20th & September 21st, 2008 from 10am - 5pm

Colonial craftsman plying authentic hand tools will build exact, hand-made, full-size replicas of the original rafters before your eyes. Visitors can participate helping to raise this replica roof in the Barracks yard. Debate 18th century Trentonians as they speak out for and against building a barracks in Trenton. Sign your name with a quill pen on the petition to the Colonial Legislature if you are a supporter. Colonial merchants will sell authentic replica products, colonial musicians will be playing music throughout the day, Fresh bread will be baked in our colonial clay oven and lectures given by Hunter Research archeologists, Richard Hunter and Ian Burrow, within site of the ongoing archeological dig behind the barracks where artifacts have been excavated from the 1735 Trenton steel plating mill.
Cost: All events are scheduled both days. $8/adult, $6/senior, $6/child. Old Barracks Association Members are free. Download the Raising Day Supper menu.
Saturday evening, September 20th, 6pm, a Colonial Feast will be served at $30/person.

4th annual Museum Day sponsored by Smithsonian magazine

Saturday, September 27th the Old Barracks Museum will participate in the 4th annual Museum Day sponsored by Smithsonian magazine. Smithsonian magazine's readers will gain free admission to the museum when presenting the Smithsonian magazine's Museum Day Admission Card. The admission card is available in the September 2008 issue of Smithsonian magazine.

250th Celebration of the Building of the Barracks Continues
November 15th & November 16th, 2008

"The Troops March In" Commemoration of the first occupation of the Trenton Barracks 250 years ago by the 7th Regiment of Foot, the "Inniskillings"(British soldiers who marched into the Barracks to spend the winter after having suffered a disastrous defeat by the French at Ft. Ticonderoga that past summer). These troops will march into the Barracks again on November 15th & 16th with their full packs, wagons, equipment, and music and meet with a colonial "barrackmasters" who will assign them their spaces at the Barracks. The agenda for both days consists of Colonial Ceremonies, speeches, colonial music, colonial merchants selling goods and visitor interactions with the "Inniskillings".
