From the beginning, World’s Fairs held an important place in society. They were a way to look to the future, respect the past, and form a global community. Nations and states who presented at a World’s Fair were making a statement about their culture, their values, and their contributions to society. These iconic structures would only physically last for a few short months, but it was intended for their impact to last much longer in the minds of visitors.

The Old Barracks was chosen to represent New Jersey three separate times due to the importance placed upon it by the State. A significant amount of time and money was put into these beautiful facsimiles so the spirit of New Jersey could be shared with the world.

While the World’s Fair buildings no longer stand, the Old Barracks is still cherished more than 80 years after appearing in its last World’s Fair.
