Internships

The Old Barracks Museum offers various internship opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students throughout the year. Internships provide a valuable way to gain practical, hands-on experience in a museum setting by working directly with our experienced staff.

Our internships are available in the following departments:

Interpretive Internship

(Not currently available)

  • Dress in period-appropriate clothing provided by the museum.
  • Learn the history of this National Historic Landmark.
  • Work on specific projects and events throughout the year as an interpretive volunteer.
  • Gain experience in the day-to-day front-end operations of a living history museum.

Curatorial Internship

(Not currently available)

  • Work directly with the Curator on day-to-day tasks of managing the collection.
  • Choose a project that matches your interests, such as managing inventories, cataloging objects, data entry, and object research for education and exhibition programs.
  • Work with over 2,000 physical objects and an extensive archive collection.

Development & Marketing Internship

(Not currently available)

  • Participate in creating, planning, and promoting special events.
  • Assist with social media and web content management.
  • Learn about public relations and advertising for museums.
  • Work with our membership database.
